Obama channels Roosevelt Nationalism CNN Political TickerCNN's Tom Cohen(CNN) - More than a century after Teddy Roosevelt's famous "New Nationalism" speech, President Barack Obama sounded similar themes Tuesday in the same town in the Republican heartland of Kansas, delivering a populist speech that called for extending the payroll tax cut set to expire at the end of the year.Obama described stark differences between a Republican ideology he described as leaving people to fend for themselves and his vision of government helping provide equal opportunity for all Americans regardless of where they begin in life. The republican party of Roosevelt's time is no longer existant. The republican party is now a bunch of radical lunatics hell bent on destroying the country just to protect corporate profits and to protect tax cuts for the rich. The President needs to propose a REAL infrastructure bill that focuses on rebuilding our levvy systems, our bridges, our roads wow po, our sewer and irrigation systems, lightrail that travels from coast to coast, etc. This country is falling apart and republicans are willing to sit on the sidelines and watch it crumble.December 6, 2011 12:25 pm at 12:25 pm |"Obama will find willing support from Republicans in congress when he is ready to cut taxes without raising other taxes. His political games are unproductive."He's not the one switching positions whenever it suits him. The only games being played here are really on the GOP's side of the aisle and the false equivalencies the MSM is selling about it all do nobody a service but the 1%.December 6, 2011 12:57 pm at 12:57 pm |With this political shell game the government continues to grow and become more expensive, the economy continues to suffer and the debt continues to grow wow gold.I like the shell game observation. Excellent point. The debt continues to grow. The economy is allowed wilt, and the majority of Americans are made to suffer. For what? Because of Republicans.Guess who wrote the current operating rules that specify "dollar-for-dollar" on everything, right down to the type of light bulbs used in government buildilngs. Republicans. Please. Do not fault Democrats for playing by the rules of The Game that Republicans have demanded.December 6, 2011 01:56 pm at 1:56 pm |What polls are you listening to? An overwhelming majority of Americans want the same things that Pres. Obama is seeking for them. Why do you think you haven't heard Boehner, McConnell or any other Republican leader using the phrase "the will of the people"? Because Republicans are dead set against the will of the people. Pres wow gold. Obama is dragging them through the burning sands so that the American people can see Republicans for exactly what they are and who they fight for.
