Sales Slump wow items At M Amid Staff Shake
Sorry to hear that David. My husband worked for Woolies in the 70 and they had really good clothes and superb relationships with suppliers. He was the man who "paid" their bills in head office - so he knew how important the discounts were to Woolies and the prompt payment was to the manufacturer. The relationship was so good that he was often able to explain any (infrequent!) late payment and get a whole or part concession. He revised the payment scheme to speed up and still check payments then. Loved the fact that he had a good sized staff with excellent qualifications - a CA dream!
Marks Spencer is not an option for most of us during hard times. I would like to cite as an example their multi-packs of ladies cotton pants which can cost as much wow gold as £12 per pack. By crossing the road to Primark, I can obtain a similar item for £3. Not such good quality? Well, sorry Marks Spencer. There isn such a difference that I can afford to be so fussy. Yours sag and bag, in the same way as Primarks! And the days when I could afford to kit out two kids for school with your shirts is well and truly over. I don honestly think that now was the time to be entreating us to go shwapping either. Most of us have nothing to shwap!
I bought a load of tee shirts from Matalan - was disappointed but not too surprised when they shrank in the wash. Went to marks spencers and bought a load of tee shirts there at just over double the price of matalan. THEY SHRANK IN THE WASH TOO. Says it all!
I used to buy food from m when I wow gold felt wealthy for the odd week but it gone down the drain for taste and varied choice so I don waste my money there any more.
I am mid-sixties and can find anything at all in the women clothing section. It seems geared to the pearls and twinset gals who were already out of date 50 years ago. So, I don buy clothes there either.
Got a marks spencer gift voucher recently (as a freebie) from a company who didn know any better and gave it away to a young single father of two (widower) who had a great time spending the £50 on his family. Wonder why?

And it advert that I saw on telly last night did not buy wow gear help - having what looks like and is a very old lady even with the poshiest voice (and most irritating, it makes me cringe!) on the planet will do nothing to bring in new customers -
M is on the way out anyway, outmoded, very old fashioned and the same stuff imported from the same places as you can find on any town market nowadays, all being sold much more expensively only so that toffs can walk around in posh surroundings! And even they are becoming a much fewer breed thank goodness! Sorry M you do nothing to entice me into your doorways, not even quality home made products anymore!

I have always enjoyed shopping in M but they need to look at their designs like many other stores. I am 54 a size 8-10, and not wow gold yet ready for the classic range and elastic waisted trousers. Neither do I want high fashion. Trying to find a decent pair of straight leg on the waist coloured jeans seems to be impossible at the moment. Every pair seems to be drain pipes, which I don want. Fashion is never practical. In this finacial climate people need clothing to take them into each season and to add to as time moves on. Maybe they need to employ older female fashion designers.!

This store has been struggling for years - is this news? One of their recent mistakes was that ad with Joanna Lumley about "Shwapping". It made me cringe. The idea was that you take something you don want any longer, go to M and buy something new, donate the old item to charity and wow, you have Shwapped!!. They didn bother to do their research on the realities of doing this. what if we went to the store, didn find anything we particularly wanted? No one is going to want to carry an item of clothing on the off chance they might find something they want to buy in exchange. I don shop at M anyway, but this ad for Shwapping made me cringe.

For decades I bought just about all my clothes in M I could walk wow items into a store, whip around buying things that fitted and co-ordinated. I did not mind that things were sometimes a bit expensive because it was good quality and items lasted well. Sadly, this has gradually changed and recently reached rock bottom.
I find that I have to return over half of the things I wow items now buy because of the erratic sizing. The quality is also poorer and after a few washes things lose their shape and look worn. I have clothes bought years ago that I can still wear and things purchased recently beyond wearing!
I have complained to M staff when I have returned ill-fitting clothes and they tell me that this is something they hear all the time so WHY is M not doing something about it? They need to look critically at these problems if they want their business to improve.
