Nameberry has just released the hottest trending names of the year for the first six months of 2012. The list is not based on the names that parents have wow gold actually chosen for their children (phew, there may still be time to stop it!) but rather on the names that are seeing the biggest spikes in traffic on the Nameberry site. And let's just say that while some of the names may ring a bell as they originate from current pop culture trends such as The Hunger Games and hot musicians and their offspring, chances are you haven't heard of a lot of these names. Would you name your child one of the following top trending baby names:
I've written a lot of stories on trends in baby names and I don't want to be repetitive, but there is something to be said for giving your child a name that they can carry through life without having to answer questions about it every time they are introduced to someone new. If you want people to say, "What's your name again?" or "How do you pronounce that?" or "Wow, that's so 2012!" for their entire lives then most definitely consider these names for your child. There is no doubt that every child is unique and should be treated as such, but even children named Jacob and Sophia are unique.
Choosing your baby's name is a most daunting task and that's why it's not uncommon for people to regret the name they choose and even go so far as to change it after leaving the hospital. Can you picture your child becoming a day trader named Zebulan or an accountant named Theon? While they may have an edge to them that makes them cool names, as parents to newborns we have no idea what our children will want to be when they grow up (although we may have dreams of them becoming a doctor or a rock star) and so we need to think beyond cool infant and toddler names and think about how the name we choose will affect them for the long haul.
